Brandy Lay is hosting a community fundraiser for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), ALS is commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease. This first annual fundraiser will consist of a POUND & POUR. The event will be held at The Phoenix Brewing Company in Historical Downtown Mansfield. For $20, participants will enjoy a 30-minute POUND class (3 time slots to choose from) with Lisa McManes, of McManes Personal Training/Certified POUND Pro, followed by a local pint, courtesy of The Phoenix Brewing Company. There will also be raffle baskets and food available. This event is family friendly. Please bring a yoga mat and wear your sunscreen as we will be outside for the classes with weather permitting. If inclement weather, we will have tents up or move it inside.
Proceeds from this event will go to The ALS Therapy Development Institute. The ALS Therapy Development Institute and its scientists actively discover and develop treatments for ALS. They are the world's first and largest nonprofit biotech focused 100 percent on ALS research. Led by people with ALS and drug development experts, we understand the urgent need to slow and stop this disease.

Three years ago, I lost my father, Barry Cotterman, to this devastating disease. He lived with ALS for almost ten years, and during that time, was an involved advocate for the ALS community. Together we were co-Captains of our ALS walk team, Barry’s Backers, and through the years, raised awareness and funds. I also wrote a children’s book called, Walk Like Penguins, about how my father and my children made their own special memories, despite my father’s limitations with ALS.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT,
