An ancient Icelandic legend tells of the Yule Cat, a monstrous Christmas Cat that prowls the snowy countryside in search of those who haven't received new clothes for Christmas. But at the Phoenix, we're rewriting the legend.
We're fighting the frost, feeding the spirit of giving (and the Yule Cat), and making sure our neighbors have something warm to wear this winter!
Please join us at the Phoenix Brewing Company as we kick FIGHT THE FROST: Ward Off the Yule Cat winter coat drive benefiting Wayfinders' homeless services on November 21.
The Snowglobe Winter Ale taps at Noon. The Snowglobe is a refreshing winter ale and a departure from the traditional winter warmer style. It is a blonde ale brewed with honey, cinnamon and clove, and infused with cranberry and orange.

Where does the Yule Cat fit in at the Phoenix? Being housed in a former mortuary allows for some non-traditional beer names and artwork, even for holiday beers. The Surly Gnome Winter Warmer has a skeletal gnome, Krampus Kandy White Stout has a cuddly but fierce Krampus. Snowglobe also needed a holiday monster. Meet the Yule Cat. The Yule Cat wasn’t even close to being the scariest, but it did spark the discussion that led to the coat drive and the need for warmth,
Fight the Frost and Help Ward off the Yule Cat. The drive begins November 21, with the tapping of the Snowglobe Spiced Holiday Ale. Donations of new or gently used winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves for men, women, and children will be accepted at the Phoenix Brewing Company, 131 N. Diamond Street, Mansfield, Ohio, 44902, during open taproom hours. The last day for coat donations will be December 5
