Duncan

HEAD BREWER/OPERATIONS

Professionally brewing since 2013, Duncan’s origins in the industry began with homebrewing in 1999. Previously a chemist, he says “I like the science and creativity of brewing. Combining simple ingredients for an endless variety of flavors and profiles is rewarding.”

If he isn’t at the brewery, he is probably golfing, hiking, or expanding his outdoor culinary skills in cast iron and open-fire cooking. He likes grilled cheese sandwiches, smoked meats, and everything in between.  His beer fridge is loaded with a variety of styles, but you will usually find an IPA in his hand.

SCOTT

SALES/TAPROOM MANAGER

Helping people create memories isn’t part of Scott’s official job description, but it is what he does every day. Scott ensures Phoenix beverages are available on draft and in cans, locally and beyond. He makes sure the taproom experience, from the beer in your hand, to the live music in the air every weekend, is nothing short of exceptional. He has an amazing ear for musical talent, bringing in some of the best musical acts from the tri-state area.

Scott has been brewing since 2009 and his favorite beer styles are Belgians and IPAs.

Steve  

IT/ACCOUNTING

Most people know him as Zig, but Steve started brewing in 2008. He’s pretty humble about his responsibilities at the Phoenix, but in addition to being the resident technology wrangler and troubleshooter, Steve is also the Chief Fiscal Officer, helping steward the Phoenix over the last 9 years.

He fills his time outside of the taproom hiking, geocaching, and traveling to Ohio breweries with his wife, Stephanie.

One of the first to complete the Ohio on Tap Ale Trail, the largest ale trails in Ohio, if not the country, Steve still visits new breweries as they are established across Ohio. His favorite styles include IPAs and Stouts

Carmone (RED)

CREATIVE/MARKETING

“Every day, I wake up and I get to work in an industry, I fell in love with over 20 years ago. What a great feeling to know I get to help expand and grow the Craft Beer Community.”

Carmone is a member of the Pink Boots Society and serves on the board of the Ohio Craft Brewer’s Association. Other interests of this “Clever Girl” include dinosaur movies, pirates, crime dramas, monsters, IPAs and Saisons.

Not only can Ian help you pick out a favorite pint for your taproom, or your belly, he brews it too, The First Mate of the Phoenix, Ian has been here since day one. When he isn’t here, he likes to spend time with his family and cheering for the Browns.

And while he enjoys all styles of beer,  his favorite beer is cold.

SALES

Corey has been part of the Phoenix family almost since day one. These days he is in the office or on the road as our top sales representative, but you may have seen him in the taproom or the brewery in a past roles.

If you ask him his favorite style, he says: “Yeah, I like IPA’s”

Ryan brewer

Ryan

BREWER/SAFETY

Ryan is a brewer and tap technician. He loves cranking out specialty batches on the the 5 BBL pilot system. His love for IPA's is almost as big as his heart. Which is pretty huge, having raised over $15,500 the last seven years to shave his head and beard for St. Baldrick's. His goal for 2023 is $5,000. When not brewing he also serves on the Safety Committee for the O.C.B.A.

Resident beer goddess, Margot knows her beers and her numbers. You may have seen her around the taproom or working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly, or perhaps on a beer label.

Margot has an adventurous palate but her favorite beer is the 419 Pale Ale.

Isaiah sales and distribution

SALES/DISTRIBUTION

Isaiah is a tap technician and works in sales and distribution. A nature lover at heart, Isaiah can be found enjoying the good vibes of hiking, canoeing & fishing, and sharing his wealth of knowledge about plants & trees.

He and his wife use their trips around the state for their resale business as an excuse to visit different breweries. His favorite beer styles are IPAs and Stouts.

DAHLIA

Don't let her quiet demeanor fool you, Dahlia is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to beer. She’s a fan of good music and hot sauce, but her interests go beyond that!

When she's not working, you can find her running her resale business, catching fish on the Clear Fork River, gaming, or toying with vintage cameras. Her favorite beer styles are IPAs and Pale Ales,

 

AndY

A little on the shy side, Andy is doesn't really like to talk about himself, but we will.  

Andy is an integral cog in the Phoenix machine, having worked here for the last 8 years in the taproom and the brewhouse. Outside of the brewery, he makes lives better for others fighting fires and helping to save lives.

When he isn't busy putting out all kinds of flames, you can find him enjoying a cold pint of ESB or unusual beers with others. 

Shelly

EXECUTIVE BOURBON STEWARD

Shelly spends her days preparing others for life-long success.  Her passion for camping and travel with her husband and 2 Weimaraners is only rivaled by her excitement visiting breweries and distilleries.

When she isn’t working, you might find her with her nose in a book and a stout or porter in her hand, barrel-aged of course.  

Joanna bartender

JOANNA

GAME MASTER

Joanna is a native of Ashland with a passion for travel. She spent 10 years living and teaching abroad before returning home.

When not working behind the bar or managing Community Tuesdays, and she can be found with her two fur-babies, reading, catching up on reality tv or saying yes to the next adventure. Her food and beer preferences change frequently based on her mood but she is always down for a good IPA and especially loves the Embalming Fluid.

 
Siera bartender

Siera

Siera has a passion for community, family and craft beer! Her "hobby job" here at the brewery has given her the opportunity to meet new people and expand her tasting selection beyond her first beer love, stouts. Now her brew preference depends on the season and her mood.

When not working, she can be found remodeling her home or gardening, enjoying time with friends & family or traveling! Cheers!

JASON

BINGO MASTER

Also known as Madman McManes, Jason is actually all-around chill. At home with his beautiful wife and daughter, he grows and experiments with different hops and culinary delights.

He’s the BINGO master- Master of Ceremonies or the BM-MOC if you will, every 4th Tuesday at your favorite tap room (the Phoenix) and when he’s holding the microphone, his favorite pint is Redemption.

Jeb bartender

JEB

Jeb sat at the bar as a customer for a long time before joining the crew. But, no matter what side of the bar he is on you can find him making style recommendations.

Like his wife, Siera, working at PHX is a "hobby job". In his downtime he can be found working on vehicles, kayaking and traveling. Although he enjoys most styles of beer, his go-to will always be the 5 Guinea ESB.

Jim

Jim is a lot like our beer portfolio. His interests are diverse and varied. He enjoys a great round of golf and trying a variety of craft beer styles when visiting taprooms. One of his favorite activities is feeling the sun on his face when riding his motorcycle. He’s even been accused of moonlighting as Captain Underpants and some customers say he looks like Jim Gaffigan’s better looking brother.

STephanie

Stephanie has been a Phoenix bartender for only one year less than the Phoenix has been in business.

She has developed a love for many of the flavorful craft beers made in house, with sours being among one of her favorites.

She is always happy to help you get started in your first craft beer tasting experience.

Bryan bartender

BRYAN

Bryan loves craft beer, the Cleveland Browns, the Columbus Blue Jackets, tattoos, and his beautiful wife. He also has a small obsession with Big Foot, travelling cross country for the latest Sasquatch convention. It is rumored he might have even had a close up encounter with Big Foot.

Following in Big Foot’s steps, his favorite beer style is an IPA.

 
Tony bartender

Tony

Tony is a proud steelworker with BIG love for guitars, music, and dogs, and not necessarily in that order. Make sure your pups are leashed around Tony because they might just go home with him. Seriously, he’d adopt them all if he could!

He’d also drink the Surly Gnome winter warmer all year long if it were available, but big Belgian beers are close second favorite.
